About Pharmacy Week
Pharmacy Week is a yearly event celebrated across healthcare institutions in Singapore led by the Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore (PSS) to raise awareness of the roles of pharmacists in the healthcare industry and highlight how pharmacists partner with patients in managing their medication-related issues.
The Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore (PSS) is the professional organisation representing pharmacists in Singapore. Founded in 1905 as the Straits Pharmaceutical Society, today it is steered by an elected council comprising of a president and 11 council members. Our membership comprises of pharmacists practicing in the community, hospital, marketing/sales/distribution and academic sectors. PSS is a non-profit organisation.
The mission of PSS is to “Maximise the contribution of pharmacists to the healthcare of Singaporeans”. To this end, we have adopted a two-pronged strategy – to upgrade pharmacists professionally and to reach out to the public through health education programmes. The society aims to provide Singaporeans with high quality pharmaceutical services, which emphasise safe, efficacious and cost- effective drug treatments.
Theme: Take Charge Towards a Healthier SG
The theme for this year is “Take Charge Towards a Healthier SG”. Pharmacy Week 2023 commits to optimising medication use with personalised risk advice by pharmacist professionals. We strive to enable the public with self-knowledge of one’s general health and well-being, through empowering the use of medicines, health-related practices, and other resources.
