Having chronic conditions such as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), heart disease, and diabetes may also increase the risk of developing pneumococcal pneumonia.

Smoking also causes damage to lung tissues which is also increases the risk of becoming infected by bacteria that causes pneumococcal pneumonia.

What Can I Do?

Getting vaccinated can help protect you from pneumococcal pneumonia. You can get vaccinated at CHAS GP or polyclinics.
